Rhys qualified from Cardiff University Dental Hospital in 2007 and has almost 20 years of experience in general dental practice. He has worked at Bethcar Dental Practice since 2013, when he and his wife Laura purchased the practice.

Rhys enjoys all aspects of dentistry and has developed particular interests in complex restorative dentistry, endodontics and dental implantology. He particularly enjoys helping patients with more challenging dental problems, taking time to carefully assess each case and explain the different treatment options available.

Rhys has undertaken extensive postgraduate training throughout his career. In 2009, he successfully completed the MJDF examination through the Royal College of Surgeons of England, before completing a Master’s degree in Forensic Dentistry at the University of Glamorgan in 2012.

Laura qualified from Cardiff University Dental Hospital in 2008 and has worked in general dental practice ever since. She joined Bethcar Dental Practice in 2009 and, following a period of postgraduate study, returned in 2013 when she and her husband Rhys purchased the practice.

Laura enjoys providing general dentistry, with a particular interest in helping nervous and anxious patients feel comfortable and confident about their dental care. She has a Postgraduate Diploma in Conscious Sedation from Cardiff University and is able to offer additional support to patients who may otherwise find dental treatment difficult.

Her calm and reassuring approach is central to the way she practises. Laura takes time to explain the different options available and involves her patients in decisions about their care, helping patients feel informed and comfortable throughout their treatment.

Tayla qualified from the University of Bristol Dental School in 2017 and then undertook her foundation training in the market town of Marlborough.

She went on to work as a Senior House Officer in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery over a period of two years, firstly at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth and then at the University Hospital of Wales. During this time Tayla gained more experience in the assessment and treatment of oral diseases as well as carrying out complicated dental extractions. She also completed her MFDS examinations and is a member of the Faculty of Dental Surgery through the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh.

Tayla enjoys carrying out all aspects of general dentistry but has special interests in cosmetic dentistry and oral surgery. She is certified to carry out short term orthodontics in adults and is a registered provider of both Invisalign Go and Six Month Smiles and will happily discuss these with patients who are interested in straighter teeth.

Deborah joined the practice in 1983 on a Y.T.S scheme and was employed as a permanent member of staff in 1984 working as a dental nurse for the first 10 years and since as a receptionist.

Deborah is our Practice Manager and ensures the smooth running of the practice on a day to day basis. She is only to happy to help all patients with any problems or queries relating to the practice.

Clare qualified as a Dental Hygienist in 2008 at Cardiff Dental Hospital and has been working at Bethcar Dental since 2011. Prior to qualifying as a hygienist Clare worked as a Dental Nurse for 14 years.

Her nursing career started here at Bethcar Dental when she was only 18 years old before leaving to  join the Royal Air Force.

She thoroughly enjoys her job and is keen to help patients with all aspects of looking after their oral Hygiene.

Amy is a Dental Hygienist at Bethcar Dental Practice.

Amy says, ‘I’ve spent my whole career in dentistry, spending 8 years as a Dental nurse before qualifying with distinction as a Dental Hygienist in 2019’.

‘The best part of my job is helping anxious patients that may have a fear of treatment, or had a bad experience in the past. It’s great to see people’s confidence and oral health improve’.

‘I always have time to answer any questions you may have’.

Anne-Marie joined the practice in 2002 and qualified as a dental nurse in 2004. She enjoys all elements of dental nursing as well as working on reception and assisting during domiciliary visits.

Anne-Marie has furthered her knowledge within dental nursing by studying and completing a certificate in conscious sedation nursing. Her calm and relaxed nature certainly helps to reassure anxious patients.

Adele started working in the practice in 1993 and since then has gained a vast range of experience working with many different dentists each having different skills and specific interests under the umbrella of dentistry.

She has also worked closely with members of the public of all ages, backgrounds and medical status, and has always been comforting and reassuring while upholding the public’s rite of freedom of choice and confidentiality.

Her work ethic is excellent and she is adaptable to any role required in the dental team as long as she feels comfortable that she has sufficient training, experience and competence to carry out the required task safely and to a high standard.

Natalie started working at Bethcar Dental Practice in July 2017. She has been a dental nurse since 2002. Natalie does a wide range of duties including all elements of dental nursing as well as working on reception and assisting in the decontamination room.

Natalie and her family have been patients of ours for many years and it is great to have her as part of the team.

Natalie loves her job as she enjoys meeting people and making them feel at ease in the dental environment.

Michelle has worked at the practice for 18 years where she started as Dental Nurse Trainee before completing a Diploma in Dental Nursing in 2006. She enjoys all areas of dental assisting but finds restorative dentistry the most rewarding.

Michelle loves the job and says that she takes great satisfaction in knowing she is helping patients with their individual problems and finds working as part of a team fantastic.

Sian joined the practice in 2014 but has been a qualified dental nurse since 2005. She is trained to take dental x-rays.

Sian is our Treatment Co-ordinator and is perfect at helping patients understand treatment and plan what procedures may be best for them. 

She enjoys all aspects of dentistry but being a nervous patient herself, has feels that it is of particular importance to make sure a visit to the dentist is as relaxed and stress-free as possible.

Sian has completed a conscious sedation course to allow her to assist in the provision of dental sedation.

Chloe graduated from the University of Bristol in 2013, where she received a distinction in restorative dentistry and was awarded the prestigious British Society for Restorative Dentistry Prize. In 2022, Chloe was awarded the prize of Best Young Dentist in South West and Wales at the Private Dentistry Awards.

In 2014, Chloe was awarded membership to the Joint Dental Faculties of Royal College Surgeons after successfully completing the MJDF examination.

Chloe’s commitment to postgraduate education has been extensive. Her most recent formal qualifications include a postgraduate certificate in Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry, as well as a Master’s Degree in Implant Dentistry for which she was awarded a distinction from her Alma mater, the University of Bristol in 2018.

Dr Sarah Jenkins qualified from Cardiff Dental School in 2008 before completing her Foundation Training in Cardiff. She went on to gain valuable experience across a range of dental specialties, working as a Senior House Officer in Restorative Dentistry at Cardiff University Dental Hospital, within Community Dental Services, and in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Morriston Hospital, Swansea.

Sarah subsequently returned to general dental practice, where she provides a comprehensive range of general and preventative dental care. She has undertaken further training in conscious sedation and facial aesthetics, allowing her to offer additional treatment options tailored to her patients’ individual needs.

Sarah is passionate about providing high-quality, patient-centred care in a kind and gentle manner. She places great importance on clear communication, ensuring that her patients feel informed, listened to and comfortable throughout their treatment. She has a particular interest in dental sedation and its role in helping anxious and nervous patients overcome barriers to dental care, making treatment a more positive and accessible experience.
