Treatment Benefits
Benefits Of Smile Makeovers
A smile makeover can be an incredibly rewarding experience, particularly for anyone who has lost confidence as a result of the appearance of their teeth or because of an extensive period of ongoing dental treatment.
Benefits include:
Improved dental health
While a smile makeover is in many ways about the appearance of your teeth, many of the treatment options can also help to improve your dental health as well. For example, crowns and bridges will restore teeth and help to protect overall oral health.
Improved confidence
The purpose of a smile makeover is to make your teeth look and feel their best so you can feel confident in your smile once again. By consolidating treatment into a set time frame with specific, holistic goals, you can enjoy noticeable results at the end.
A streamlined treatment plan
By having all your dental treatment mapped out, it can help you to feel confident in the outcome and know there is a clear end-point to this level of dental intervention. Although regular appointments are an ongoing part of good dental health, a streamlined treatment plan can be helpful financially, psychologically and practically, helping you to plan more effectively.
Improved dental function and overall wellbeing
Your dental health is linked to so many other aspects of your wellbeing, particularly your nutritional intake and your confidence. Many of the processes involved in restoring your smile, can also contribute to good dental function – being able to eat, drink and speak normally, for example, all of which impacts your general health.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are smile makeovers?
Our smile makeovers are where we create a specific plan to improve the appearance of your teeth with multiple treatments and procedures in a concentrated time period. That might include multiple crowns, teeth whitening, composite bonding, braces and scaling and polishing, for example.
What are smile makeovers for?
Smile makeovers are for anyone who wants to make a big difference to the appearance of their smile in a comparatively short time period. For people who have had a lot of dental treatment over a period of time, this can be an excellent way of consolidating that process so you can really see and enjoy the results.
What's involved with getting smile makeovers?
A smile makeover begins with a consultation to decide on what you want to achieve and what needs to be done to meet that goal. We may take x-rays as well as doing an examination to confirm what’s required. We will then put together a bespoke plan, depending on your individual needs, and book your appointments over a set period of time to create maximum impact in a safe and supportive manner. The specifics of those appointments and the time frame required will depend on the treatment options that are right for you.
As there is no removal of the tooth or tooth material involved in composite bonding there’s no need for an anaesthetic. However, if you are a nervous patient we can talk to you about sedative options if necessary.
We start by selecting the right shade of composite material to match your teeth. We then prepare the surface of the tooth to attach the resin. Next, we apply the composite resin to the tooth and shape it as required. The material is hardened using an ultraviolet light, and finally we polish the tooth. For one tooth the process can take as little as 45-minutes.
What are the drawbacks of smile makeovers?
The main drawback of a smile makeover, is that depending on your needs, it can be quite an intense period of dental intervention, which has associated costs and time commitments. At Bethcar Dental we will always plan smile makeovers sympathetically, with your health and wellbeing at the forefront of our consideration. We can plan procedures to fit in with your schedule and your personal wants and needs.
Disadvantages may include:
Not as durable as veneers
While composite resin is a durable material, as you would expect for any dental application, it isn’t as hard wearing as the porcelain that’s used in veneers. This means that you should take care when playing impact sports and chew sensibly. With care, the bonding material can last up to about 10 years, but will need to be replaced at some point. This should be planned into your dental care.
Less stain resistant
The porcelain used for veneers is known for being highly stain resistant, whereas the composite bonding is less so. It will stain over time, but at a slower rate than your natural teeth. As with the general appearance of your teeth, it’s worth keeping this in mind when making dietary choices. That said, the staining process can be limited by good dental hygiene and regular dental appointments including scaling and polishing.
Is a smile makeover right for me?
If you are not feeling confident in your smile, and on discussing your concerns with your dentist, there are several, interconnected procedures that can help improve its appearance, then a smile makeover may be right for you. By coordinating those procedures, this type of dental care can become a motivating process where you can look forward to a noticeable, positive difference within a set time period.
