Treatment Benefits
Benefits Of Dentures
There are multiple benefits to having dentures fitted if you have experienced tooth loss, ranging from improved confidence to helping protect the long-term health of your gums and remaining teeth.
Benefits include:

Improved confidence in your smile
One of the primary benefits of dentures after significant tooth loss is that they can help to restore your confidence. Many of our clients say they feel more like themselves again, as tooth loss can be an emotional experience. Dentures help to restore your smile, improve your confidence and give you a more youthful appearance.

Easier to talk, drink and eat
Missing teeth can make it hard to eat, drink and speak normally from a functional perspective, but they can also make individuals very anxious about these daily activities. In turn, that can have a wider impact on mental and physical health.
Why Choose Us
Your choice of denture
At Bethcar Dental, we work with three core denture types – acrylic (which tend to be used as standard), chrome, and flexi dentures. Some options require higher levels of stability in the remaining teeth than others, some offer a more natural appearance, and each type fits a little differently. Our approach is patient-driven, so we work with you to find what you feel most comfortable with as well as what meets your dental requirements best.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are dentures?
Dentures are prosthetic teeth that are made to replace missing teeth. Unlike bridges and crowns, they are supported by the soft as well as hard tissues in the mouth, and are usually removable rather than fixed. They can be made from a variety of materials including acrylic (a type of plastic), nylon or metal, and they are made to fit snugly over the gums to make it as easy as possible to continue life as usual once you get used to them.

What are dentures for?
Dentures are used to replace multiple missing teeth whether they have been lost through age, gum disease or injury. Properly fitted dentures help to restore your smile, as well as your confidence, and offer benefits for both your appearance and your wellbeing. While there are always foods that are not denture friendly (such as chewing gum and seeds), modern options can look very close to your natural teeth, and restore your ability to eat, drink and speak with confidence.
What's involved when you get dentures?
The exact process of getting dentures depends on the type that you decide will work best for you. There are usually multiple appointments, the first of which is a dental exam and a detailed conversation, where we ascertain and talk through the options. At the second appointment we will then take impressions of your mouth and a trial denture will be created so you can assess what it might feel like and we can check how it fits. At following appointments we will adjust the shape and colour of the dentures to make sure they’re correct before a final denture is produced and fitted.
Suitable for adults and children
The comfortable and minimally invasive nature of Airflow tooth polishing makes it suitable for children as well as adults.
Anyone concerned about stained teeth
We all get staining on our teeth over the course of the year, whether it’s in the hard to reach places behind our teeth or as a result of daily food and drink intake. This treatment is recommended for everyone, especially those predisposed to staining.
Anyone looking to maintain optimum oral health
Tooth polishing is recommended at least once a year as part of a healthy oral hygiene programme, helping to minimise the buildup of plaque and help prevent gum disease.
Nervous dental patients
A gentler approach to stain removal than traditional scale and polish treatments, Airflow tooth polishing is ideal for anyone who is anxious about visiting the dentist. It provides a positive experience and a high standard of preventative dental healthcare to minimise the likelihood of other dental interventions down the line.
Patients with sensitive teeth
Airflow is recommended by our dentists because it’s a gentle approach to polishing teeth. However, as pressure can also be adjusted and no instruments come into direct contact with the teeth, it’s also highly suitable for clients with sensitive teeth, minimising the chances of any discomfort.
Suitable for crowns, veneers, bridges or implants
As with sensitive teeth, Airflow tooth polishing is also suitable for anyone with crowns, veneers, bridges or implants due to the minimally invasive approach and adaptable pressure.
Are dentures right for me?
The best candidates for dentures are men or women who have significant tooth loss but who still have healthy gums. If you’re only missing one or two teeth then a dental bridge is likely to be a better solution. However, you may be a good candidate for dentures if you have the following:
Multiple tooth loss
Dentures are usually considered when a patient has lost most of their teeth, and the different types of denture available will, in part, depend on that level of tooth loss. However, if you still have more than half your natural teeth remaining, then other options may be preferable.
One or two missing teeth
If you only have one or two missing teeth then it is more likely that a solution like a dental bridge will be better for you. This is something that your dentist will discuss with you during your consultation.
